Piaggio


Piaggio wurde 1884 von Rinaldo Piaggio in Genua gegründet. Ursprünglich konzentrierte sich das Unternehmen auf luxuriöse Seeschiffe, erweiterte jedoch schnell sein Angebot auf dampfbetriebene Sägemaschinen, Schienenfahrzeuge (1908), Motorboote und Flugzeuge (1915). Piaggio führte die Druckkabine für Flugzeuge ein. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wandte sich Piaggio den Rollern zu und brachte 1946 die Vespa auf den Markt. 1948 folgte der dreirädrige Ape-Transporter. Ab 1958 produzierte Piaggio auch Autos. Seitdem hat das Unternehmen mehrere Marken übernommen, darunter Gilera, Derbi und Aprilia, und ist heute ein führender Hersteller von Rollern, Motoren und Motorrädern.
